Native Laws vs God's Word

There is a saying in Yoruba which goes thus, "E je ka se bi won tin se
ko ba le ri bo tin ri." meaning "Let us do things the way people have
always done them so we can have the same results people have always
had."

Traditional weddings, naming ceremonies, rites of passage, herbal
baths, use of native herbs etc

How do these ceremonies apply to the Word of God?

For instance, in a typical traditional wedding ceremony, we might want
to look beyond the pomp, pageantry and celebrations to the underlying
conditions attached to such a ceremony.
A man and woman that have been joined together under native law and
custom are expected to have children. If for some reason, a child
isn't forth coming, the couple might be encouraged to perform certain
rituals and use certain herbs in other for them to have a child. Also,
there might be a provision for parents and/or family of the groom to
encourage him to have a child with another woman. On the other hand
God makes all things beautiful in His time and admonishes ONE MAN, ONE
WIFE and decries anything that has to do with a man having any other
woman apart from his wife.

I am not trying to eradicate native laws and customs but rather want
us to think deeply about what we truly believe, not because of status
quo or what we've always known to do but rather how these things apply
to us through the Word of God.

Football and basketball are both ball games but are played with
different sets of laws. You play football primarily with your feet and
if your hand touches the ball, you'll be penalised. Basketball on the
other hand is primarily played with hands and not the feet.

God gave the Israelites the law through Moses and not anyone could
fulfill each and every bit of the law. For the law said if one
transgresses in one of the laws, one has transgressed in all. In other
words, the law was ineffective as it could NOT keep the Israelites
from sinning.

God had a second and better plan. Jesus Christ came and died for the
sins of the world and established a new law of the spirit based on
God's word.

Therefore, I can boldly and confidently say that its either one lives
wholly by native laws and customs or wholly by the law of the Spirit
based on the Word of God concerning every ceremony that takes place in
one's life.

Weddings based solely on God's Word, child naming and dedication
solely based on God's word and every other ceremony based on the Word
of God ONLY.

Its time Christians rise up and stand firm in what they believe; GOD'S WORD.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for
pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every
thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to
punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Is Abortion Right or Wrong?

I saw a caption recently that says, "If abortion is murder, then a blow job is cannibalism."

Funny caption but then its so far from the truth. Let's not be deceived. These are the kind of "lies" that prevent us from. coming to the full awareness of who we are. Abortion terminates a life.

If you've ever watched a foetus grow gradually in your womb for 9 months or in your wife's womb (men), then and only then will you understand the point.

If you had been aborted when your parents conceived you, would it have been good?

"Abortion within the first trimester isn't murder. The foetus is still in the clot form", someone said to me.

NONSENSE: That's another big lie. A human being is a human being. Life is infused at conception. No matter what the technicality, abortion is murder, whatever the trimester. Get my point and get it right. I'm not here to hit on people that have ever done it, but to help us all retrace our steps and renew our minds. What's wrong is wrong. Would it have done any good if you had been aborted in the 1st trimester or even in the so called "clot" form which is a fertilized egg (a living human) that's unseen to the human eye? Its a lie of the devil. NOTHING ever justifies abortion.

Listen, we stray in our thoughts but its important to get right back to God when we stray. A parent might have made a mistake but God never makes a mistake. God has a plan for every life, be it foetus or fully formed child. Its man's effort to cover his error that leads to the termination of life. Whatever a man sows is what he'll reap. If u sow beans you'll reap beans; If you have sex and the seed is sown, you'll reap a child. Even if a child comes as a result of his/her father/mother's mistake, GOD never makes a mistake. Do not be fooled.

Put yourself in the foetus' shoes. Think of all the facts and scenarios. If you still maintain that if you've been the one and it would have done any good for you to be terminated, then can you truly convince yourself that abortion does some good.

Someone says, "Remove God. Let's deal with what's physical."

WE SHOULD NEVER REMOVE GOD IN ANYTHING THAT CONCERNS OUR LIVES. NEVER!!! He's the very essence for our lives and society standards and values have dropped and in some places are even non-existent because people have removed God from their lives.

If you think I've not smelt shit, felt shit or done shit? You're so far from the truth. I've been there, done that but I know we're saved by grace and not our own efforts.

In all these thoughts and reasons that are conjured up in our heads, have we put ourselves in the foetus' shoes? We get pregnant because we had sex not because God decides to punish us with a baby and make us miss out certain life's opportunities. Have we put ourselves in those shoes?

All these pro-abortion thoughts are not of God. Murder is murder. Abortion is man's effort in trying to cover up his/her sin. That was exactly what Abel tried doing when he killed his brother Cain. However, what's in the past is in the past.

Our thoughts, words and actions must change and conform to the image of God. If God won't endorse it, its WRONG. There are no two ways to it. We should understand this is a battle of the mind; a spiritual battle. These are thoughts that exalt themselves above God and these are the things we wrestle against. If a woman brings a baby into this world and she isn't ready and she suffers and the baby suffers, its not fair but its JUST. Its what u sow that u reap.

Steve Jobs mother tried to get rid of him. He never knew the love of his mother but was raised in an orphanage until he got adopted. He was destined for sufferings to the human eye and understanding but God had a plan. Apple Inc, the mac, iPod and iPad would NOT have been if this man had been terminated as a foetus. GOD ALWAYS HAS A PLAN.

Man's examples cannot be perfect but if you can tell me that abortion is of God, then I'll rest my case so the question shouldn't be about abortion being right or wrong but rather "IS ABORTION OF GOD?"

However, take note that there are grey areas that everyone has to deal with in their personal lives. There are scenarios we do certain things because to our natural minds we don't know otherwise. These things happen but does that make them right? Does that make them of God?

Even if we do those things that seem to give solutions, the TRUTH remains that what's wrong is wrong and not of God. Sin is sin and can never be justified. That's the reason God provided forgiveness of our sins. Let's get the point and get it right.

God has forgiven our sins and we should repent in our hearts and align our thoughts, words and actions back to His word.

Dear God,
I feel like I've lost everything. I feel so stupid but then it dawns on me that it could have been me. I could have been the erring one. I open my heart to forgive even as you forgive me each time I wrong you.

What's the worst that could happen? Death? As long as I'm alive and I have this breath in me, I choose to live as you will. I forgive everyone who's erred me. As long as this breath is in me, there's hope that it can only get better!

Thank you God for listening and for always being there.

Yomi.

God Speaks!

Wow! It's so beautiful when you get direct instruction from God. He comes as that still small voice inside you. He doesn't scream and doesn't force you.

He speaks all the time. Do we listen and do we hear?

You can't be free until you confront your darkness. What is that weakness that holds you back? Now I know beyond reasonable doubt that for me to overcome my weaknesses, I need to look at them square in the eye and deal with them. Hmmmmm! I don't know how exactly to go about this but I know the grace of God is sufficient for me!

Our Words Have Power - Quiet Time 291210

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and the world was without form and void; darkness was on the face of the deep and God said, "Let there be light and there was light." Later on, God said, "Let us create man in our image and after our likeness" and man came into being.

The world was the epitome of chaos and even though God saw the form-less nature and the void that was in the earth, He spoke words that changed the scenario; "LET THERE BE LIGHT!"

As we get to the end of 2010 and into a new year, we must begin our days with the right words; not words that speak of the current nature of our economy, health, finances and relationships but creative words that will change the whole scenario.

Remember, this is God's nature and he created us in His image and after His likeness. This means we were created to look like God and to function like Him.

Let us wake up in the morning and speak words into our lives and the lives of our household. This will set the course for the rest of the day and the rest of our lives.

Repeat these words.
I declare, that God's plans and purpose for our lives is made manifest as a result of the creative words we speak into 2011. We live in good health and we are full of the joy of the Lord.

I am the head and not the tail in all I do. Everything I lay my hands on prospers. I am a child of God and full of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God in me directs my words and my actions into the new year and the rest of my life. I am the righteousness of God in Christ and I am moving upward and forward in every area of my life because the path of the righteous is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day.

The lines have fallen unto me in pleasant places; I have a Godly heritage.

So shall it be in my life and in the life of every single member of my household in Jesus name. Amen

Love you all.

How Much Money Do You Need To Be Happy? - Quiet Time 281210

Yesterday morning, I asked my best-friend a very interesting question; "How much in monetary value does someone need to be happy?" She answered me and said, "It depends on the individual and his/her present situation." So I asked her, "In your own situation, like how much money do you need to make you happy?" And she promptly replied, "Let's say about N100m (a hundred million naira which is almost a million dollars). I then asked, "Do you have N100m?" "No!" She said. "But are you happy now?" And she answered in the affirmative. This immediately showed her that she didn't need that amount of money to be happy.
Yes, we need money to meet our needs. If you need a bottle of coke you need at least 50naira to buy it and if you need a piece of landed property in Yaba, you'll need at least 25 million naira to buy that.

So what does it take to be happy?

Hebrews 13 vs 5 NKJV
"Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

The key to happiness in life is CONTENTMENT and TRUST IN GOD.

Here are a few things I've learnt, acted on and seen the evident results in my life with regards to finances and business from the bible.

Matthew 25 vs 14-30 NKJV
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.
(Firstly, we must recognise that God delivers his goods to his own servants; people that are committed to living for His purpose.)

15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.
(Take note that each servant was given a different amount of money according to his ability. It is important that we increase our ability to earn by learning to do what we've learnt because it is by this ability that our earnings will be determined)

16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.
(It is very interesting what happened here in verse 18 with the man with one talent. He didn't learn what to do and act on what he had learnt; He refused to learn to do. If he had asked the other two servants what and how they traded and made five more talents and two more talents respectively, he would have acted on what he had learnt and traded with his one talent and made one more talent. He would have ended up with two talents which is where one of the other two servants started from. Now, if he takes the two talents and gains two more by trading, he would have ended up with four talents. Now for him to have five talents like the first servant, all he had to do was take one talent from his four talents and repeat what he did when he started out with just one talent and then gained an extra talent. This he would have done and he would have had five talents with him. He would have gone ahead to trade with the five talents and gained more. Anytime a man gains more by trading, his ability is increased. It is important however to be content at all times and to trust God in every step of the way.)

19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ 26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
(The two servants that gained more talents were called "good and faithful" while the servant that did not gain anything was called "wicked and lazy."
The talent was collected from the servant with one talent and given to the servant with ten talents. To him that has more will be given and to him that does not have, even that which he has will be taken away from him. The man who has is the man that gains more to what he had and the man that does not have is the man that does not gain more to what he had. This man will eventually lose what he had that he refused to gain more with.

I am convinced beyond any doubt whatsoever, that the Word of God is man's code book to life.

ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ACT ON WHAT WE LEARN!!!
